ATI Radeon 9200 128mb
I just recently purchased an ATI Radeon 9200 128 mb video card for my Inspiron 5100 (laptop) for $99. These are the rest of my system specs
2.8 ghz p4
512 mb ram
Windows XP
30 gb hd
Will i be able to experience the "glow" effect in guild wars without lag
Will i be able to play on highest settings without lag? If not, which settings would i be able to play on without lag. I just paid $99 for this, i want it to be the best there is.
Thanks
Elrey

The 9200 to be honest isn't the best card on the market today. It falls now into the category of budget cards, which means it'll run the game, but probbably nowhere near the games potential. I have a 9800 Pro that still can't run the game at it's fullest settings

I have that card, on a 2000mhz P4 with 512 ram,
Run's fine on the highest settings, except for one thing, I have to have anti aliasing at 2x or off

Hey man, I have an Inspiron 5150 and I was told that only the Geforce FX5200 Go's and Radeon 9000's can go in this laptop (I have the former). Is this true? If it isn't where did you buy your laptop video card?

actually, i have an inspiron 5100, which is about the same as yours. The Radeon 9200 128 mb can fit in it too, and so can the Radeon 9600 128mb, but you have to buy it from dell parts. They are overpriced too, since they are for a laptop
128 mb 9200- $99
128 mb 9600- $175

OK, that's cool but - my laptop user's manual says that my laptop only supports 16MB - 64MB video cards?

"supports" its the key word
Dell doesnt recommend upgrading the video card, but they will walk you through it. I talked to them, they said 128mb video cards will work.

OK, cool. Also, do you have a link to those Radeon cards? I can't seem to find any on the Dell site...

you must call dell in order to order them. They arent on the Dell site. If ur looking for a safe bet, i would get the 64 mb Radeon 9000, because i havent installed my video card yet, yet i was assured from dell that if installed right, it would work. Yet if ur looking for power, get a 9600

I'm currently running:
Dell Inspiron 5150
512MB RAM
Geforce FX5200Go 64MB (It runs the game OK, 800x600 resolution on low-medium settings with 15 - 60FPS [mainly around 20 - 40])
So I don't think a Radeon 9000 will have a big difference over the Geforce. I guess I will call Dell Canada sometime and ask them for prices on video cards. Thanks for your help!

You can get a ATI 9800 Pro 128MB for about $120-$140. Goto www.pricewatch.com and make sure it's a PRO and not SE card.
